December 2020 Athlete of the Month – Caye Bohn

How long have you been a member of Nela Athletics?

I have been a member since October 2020 – three months now

What is your favorite fitness achievement?

My favorite fitness achievement so far took place during a PT session at NELA Fitness. I had attempted toes to bars many times before without any success. With some coaching from Coach Michael, I was able to finally get my toes to touch the bar- it was a huge step for me!

What are three benefits that you have experienced through working out?

1. I’m sleeping better

2. Stress relief – it’s been a huge help with gaining some sense of normalcy in this crazy COVID world

3. Getting stronger

Have you had any physical changes that you noticed? (Example: Loss of body weight if so how many pounds, gained muscle mass if so how many pounds, had to buy new clothing.)

In just three months, I’ve been gaining muscle and my physique has become more defined. I’ve also started noticing new little baby muscles popping up in places I didn’t know I could get muscles. I now have little baby traps!

What motivates you in the gym and outside of the gym?

My motivation in and out of the gym has been setting small short term goals to achieve long term fitness. I like coming in and trying to nudge my limits and increase my weights, even if it’s just a tiny bit more from the last time I attempted the movements.

What is your favorite part of the Nela Athletics experience?

My favorite part about the NELA experience has been the community. Coming in, I could tell right away that this was a tight-knit community. Everyone has been so nice and welcoming. Not only is everyone awesome, but the environment has been very safe during COVID as well, which is extremely important to me.

What are some hobbies or activities that you enjoy besides working out?

I enjoy traveling (pre-COVID), hiking, trying out new local restaurants, reading and hanging out with my cat and Greg.

What is the most interesting thing about you or the coolest thing you’ve ever done?

I once ate a tarantula while backpacking in Cambodia

What is your motto/ words that you live by or try to remind yourself of everyday?

One of my favorite sayings is a Latin phrase – “fortes fortuna adiuvat” which means “fortune favors the brave”

What is something that you’ve always wanted to do or somewhere you’ve always wanted to go?

There are so many places I would love to go – but Greece, Brazil and Peru have been at the top of my travel bucket list for a while. Looking forward to when things are safe again to continue exploring the world
