How long have you been a member of Nela Athletics?  

Since summer 2019, when we moved to the neighborhood. 

What is your favorite fitness achievement?

Making my DIII soccer team after not making it my freshman year. 

What are three benefits that you have experienced through working out? 

Quick recovery from knee surgeries (5, to be precise), higher stamina for life (kids, building fences, etc.) and getting to be less cautious about eating (cuz chocolate pretzels). 

Have you had any physical changes that you noticed? (Example: Loss of body weight if so how many pounds, gained muscle mass if so how many pounds, had to buy new clothing.)

Have lost ~20 pounds after each kid, and building upper body strength that I never developed through soccer.

What is your favorite part of the NELA Athletics experience?

I really like having community coaches, folks who you work out alongside week in and week out and then one day BAM!! You owe them burpees cuz you showed up three minutes late.

What are some hobbies or activities that you enjoy besides working out?

Reading books with kiddos, road cycling, visiting national parks, so many movies and restaurants. 

What is the most interesting thing about you or the coolest thing you’ve ever done?

Went swimming in my undies in Lake Titicaca. 

What is your motto/ words that you live by or try to remind yourself of everyday? 

Haz las cosas como Dios manda, or “do things well.” 

What is something that you’ve always wanted to do or somewhere you’ve always wanted to go?

Scuba diving.

What motivates you in the gym and outside of the gym?

In the gym, staying in shape to play soccer without injury.  Outside the gym, being a good dad.
