My name is Brian Lee. I’ve been a member of the box since 2013. I currently own a vintage clothing showroom and men’s denim/workwear brand called Harvester (@harvesterintl) which I started a few months before lockdown. Prior to Harvester, I owned a men’s clothing boutique on Abbot Kinney in Venice for roughly 8.5 years. I’ve always viewed clothing as a tool to developing and amplifying a persons individual style. Ever since I bought my first vintage Thai Coca-Cola tee in the 8th grade, I’ve been into wearing and collecting vintage clothes. My interest in graphic design (and design in general) started developing even earlier with family trips to Japan and Korea.
Over the years, the box and the Nela Athletics community have been a saving grace for both my physical and mental health – a place to recharge, rebuild, and regain control of what often seems like a chaotic work/life rhythm. I figured that it was long overdue to give back in some small way and came up with a few t-shirt designs. The idea for this first design was inspired by Paul’s love for collegiate sports and school spirit tees. I thought “UNBROKEN” was the perfect word to capture the enduring spirit of our community (especially through COVID) as well as the way we relentlessly push each other to continuously challenge ourselves in our workouts.
